Phew, what a month! We had our contract signing appointment with the big M two weeks ago and managed to change a few more things before signing. One of the items that was keeping me awake at night was the render colours we initially chose for the front facade. The 'congo capture' and 'shipwreck' colour didn't provide enough of a contrast (in Viv's opinion) so we spoke to our colour consultant again and had them changed to the following:
Once the contract was signed (after a small debacle involving the wrong contract price!), we were able to start sending everything to the mortgage broker to submit our application for the Construction loan.
After a week of anticipation, the valuation for the house and land came in as expected (phew) and we just received word on Friday that our finance has been approved (subject to them receiving our building contract...which they somehow managed to lose). That's a big relief as now we know that the build can proceed even with all the lovely upgrades we have made. Kez and Viv will need to go and celebrate soon.

So Saturday was tile selection day. Metricon have a strange process where they get you to do the tile selections two weeks after contract signing...
Anyway, since we had already visited Beaumont tiles quite a few weeks back, we had a good idea what kind of tiles we wanted for all the wet areas (bathrooms, WC, & laundry).
We chose a fairly light coloured 'white-ish' tile for the floors and skirtings, and a latte type colour for the walls. The right hand tile is obviously the feature tile for the niche (in the ensuite), and a strip of feature tile in the main bathroom shower. I'm quite excited to see this 'in the flesh' when it finally gets built.

So now the waiting begins. We are waiting to hear back from the local council to approve our house plans on the block (part of the town planning permit). Once this is done, Metricon can go ahead and get developer approval and the building permit from the council. I think this part is going to be a slow and agonising wait...our CSC at the big M hasn't been the most time efficient consultant I've worked with...but let's hope he proves me wrong in this instance.
