A cheeky look at the house on Friday afternoon and very pleased to see that the cabinets have been installed. End of fixing fast approaching we hope. Kez
Today was a gloomy evening and Viv wasn't feeling the best but we still decided to venture out to Coburg to check out our house. We knew the stairs had been installed and we were excited to see them. We noticed that quite a lot has occurred in the last two days with skirting finished, cabinets delivered and the scaffolding removed. Kez
So apparently the issue with the box gutters took a lot longer than anticipated to resolve which unfortunately resulted in a few more delays as the matrix cladding could not be installed until this was fixed. The cladding has now arrived and most of it has been installed, the roof eaves are on and to my surprise, the whole house has been plastered (no more pink bats to look at)! We did also notice that all the internal doors seem to have been delivered.
We did also have a slight drama this week with a drain pipe placement which was completely wrong (and kept me awake at night with worry) but luckily that too has been fixed. It went from this...
To this (phew!). Not sure why the plumber thought it was ok to leave a drain pipe jutting out so far away from the bulkhead! In any case, I am relieved that this has been fixed now and the build can continue as scheduled. I noticed that the architraves had also been installed today which was nice to see. Hopefully there are no more delays in the build (I am getting the feeling that we have had our fair share of them already but who knows...). Our builder has so far been pretty good at minimising the delays as much as possible so we do appreciate that. Now we have some cabinet installations to look forward to! Viv
Today we journeyed to our house with tools in hand to place our speaker wires for our surround sound system into the frame. Fingers crossed we were precise enough and we can find them easily when the time comes. We were pleased to see a few changes since our last visit, including the insulation in the walls and our lovely front door! Along with some other small details. We are hoping for the matrix cladding to go up next week so plastering can begin. It's amazing how much progress has happened in the last month. Kez
Kez and I went to check out our plot on Saturday and were surprised to see about 8 brick layers at our place finishing up the bricking! Now the bricks are all done, the cables and pipes have been roughed in, and even the plaster has been delivered. Just waiting on the insulation and matrix cladding to arrive. I spoke to our site supervisor yesterday and unfortunately there is going to be a slight delay because of a misalignment with our box gutters (I don't really understand what this means other than it will delay plastering until some time next week). Meanwhile, my friends from work have kindly agreed to help me install some speaker wiring so I can hook up my 5.1 surround sound so I can mount my speakers nice and clean without any of the wires showing.
In other news, our neighbours across the road look like they are about to get a concrete slab. They are also building a Breeze 25 home but with a different facade. I hope we can be well into the fixing stage by Christmas and with a little bit of luck, we can move in early next year :D Viv
